Our Story

Created by practitioners who understand the real challenges children face today.

Our experience shaping Built for Life Hub

Built for Life Hub brings together decades of frontline experience in mentoring, specialist SEMH support and life skills education. We have worked directly with children and young people across schools, youth services, alternative provision, secure estates and care settings, supporting those who may be disengaged, vulnerable or facing complex challenges, through mentoring programmes, specialist interventions, professional training and published resources.

This work has meant collaborating with national organisations including Women's Aid, White Ribbon, IDAS, West Mercia Police, Local Education Authorities, Virtual Schools, Multi Academy Trusts and schools across the West Midlands, West Mercia, Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Leicestershire, supporting young people to develop emotional awareness, confidence and safer decision-making.

Delivery across primary and secondary schools, alongside managing children's homes, owning mentoring companies and alternative provisions, has also given us valuable insight into the real pressures young people face today: identity and peer pressure, online influences, confidence, relationships, boundaries and the need for positive role models.

This real-world experience has directly shaped Built for Life Hub, ensuring the platform provides practical, trusted resources that help children navigate challenges, build self-belief and recognise that success is possible for them.

From an old friendship to an online platform

Jack and Nick have known each other for over 20 years, since university days. Driving past Coventry one day, Nick, who owns a technology company with Paul, had an idea: that combining his and Paul's technical expertise with Jack's knowledge from decades in children's services could create something worthwhile.

At first, Jack couldn't picture it. With a career built entirely on face-to-face work and having already authored books in children's services, translating that experience into something online felt like a different world. But the idea eventually clicked: why not build a resource platform that put that experience directly into the hands of the people delivering it.

That conversation became Built for Life Hub.

Bringing Gareth on board

Jack and Gareth both owned mentoring companies, and rather than compete, chose to work together. Jack's experience working alongside Gareth demonstrated his expertise and commitment, which is what led to Gareth joining Built for Life Hub as an owner and Head of Content, responsible for ensuring every resource on the platform meets the standard it demands.

Gareth's ability to connect with people, particularly young people, and the passion and clarity he brings to his work have proven invaluable in helping to change young lives and in getting Built for Life Hub to where it is today.
